As someone who offers counseling from time to time I am always looking for effective methods to use. Well, my search has ended.
I present to you Bob’s Newhart’s 2 word counseling method!
And the best part is that it only takes five minutes!
Check out this classic Mad TV skit:
Ahhhhhhhh …. if life were really that simple … I can only imagine the possibilities.
What do you think? Should I start using this method?

Very inspiring! I downloaded the video so i can understand it well. Thanks for adding this up!

Visiting a psychiatrist to talk about problems – it’s actually not common from where I came from. Most people I know think that depression and fears is just a state of mind, if you let it get to you, then you’re trapped. For me, turning to God for help is the best answer for these kinds of problems.

I always enjoyed Newhart. And his approach on this DOES have some reality. If we deal with the background quickly enough to move forward that is a good thing. Sometimes we choose to wander through those jungles and swamps…and we don’t seek for practicality. On the other hand, sometimes we need to dig deeply. The important Person connected to those choices is not someone like Newhart but our Lord. Need to keep focusing, turning to, Him and trusting His direction. Been there, done that so often for many years during counseling. HE IS IT!!
BUT… at least this video made me grin, as I expected when you showed his picture.

And the even better part is, implementing his method takes only ONE SECOND!!! I love this video, for it’s humour and for the solid truth in it. Those two words are like a jolt that clears the nonsense out of my head and brings me right back to where I need to be so I can hear what God is saying to me.

I wonder if it has many volumes to collect even if it is an old show.
I am sure they are some where on the Internet if you look hard enough.

Hi Kevin,
thank you so much for this funny video.
There is some truth in his approach. We are capable of stopping our thoughts by choosing to think better feeling ones. It isn’t always that easy to apply.
We all need to be listened to and understood.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just stop it?
