This weekend some friends of ours gave us their old trampoline – it was a very generous gift! As I began thinking about their generosity and the generosity of others in my life, James 1:17 came to mind “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” What this verse says to me is that EVERYTHING I receive here on earth that is good is ultimately from God. What an awesome God we have! I never want to take His good gifts for granted.
As I have been thinking about this, many things have come to mind. First, I am eternally grateful for my salvation. I know that this is obvious and is probably assumed BUT that is exactly why I need to take the time to be thankful for it! This past year I have come to appreciate my salvation in a whole new way. As I have begun to accept my identity in Christ and His love for me I am so much more thankful for my salvation.
I am also very thankful for my family. God has blessed me with an incredible wife and best friend. I have grown to love her more and appreciate her more this past year. I am so thankful that we have been able to be on this journey toward health together! I am also very thankful for my three girls. They are growing up so fast and I don’t want to take for granted these early years. They are so critical.
I am very thankful for being a pastor. Even though the last couple of years have been some of the toughest in my life, I am thankful that I get the privilege of serving God in this capacity. At this point in my life, I can not see myself doing anything else. God is building inside me a new passion and excitement for the work that He has created and called me to do.
I know that I could go on and on about all the GOOD things that God has blessed me with. This is just a very small tip of the iceberg. As I go through the rest of this day I am going to continue to focus on God’s goodness to me and I challenge you to do the same!

Hi,
Great words. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Whenever we’re in problem, if we think about it, Our mentality will be in the positive direction.
Nice post.
