At the beginning of May, my blogging friend Matt from Becoming Last invited me to join him in an ambitious adventure to help raise $1,000,000 in the month of June for charity:water.

charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 100% of public donations directly fund water projects.

You may be wondering:  Why raise money for water?

Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean drinking water.

Unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all disease and kill more people than all forms of violence, including war.

Water is important!

Water changes everything!

Here are several ways you can help:

1. Put this badge on your site:

It will link directly to the charity:water website where people can donate.  Here is the code:

<a href=”http://www.mycharitywater.org/onemillion”><img src=”http://www.charitywater.org/media/banners/300x250_baby.jpg” width=”300″ height=”250″ border=”1″ style=”border-color: #CCC”/></a>

2. Write at least one post a week from any angle you want about clean water and why you care.
3. Use the hashtag #30days or #cleanwater on Twitter to promote our efforts.
4. Donate. Even small contributions get the ball rolling!
5. Click Facebook “like” button on the campaign page.

I am very excited to be a part of this ambitious project!

Will you join me and many others in this ambitious project?

***** Matt is also offering some incentive for people to get involved.  Check out how you can win a $25 Amazon Gift Card.

Thanks Kevin! To everyone, even small donations make a difference so please don’t feel like you have to give $5000 (although that would be cool too). Thank you to everyone who contributes or shares!

  2. Hi Kevin,
I am aware of the fact that not everyone in the world can enjoy the benefits of clean water.
Wish you all the best on your project.

Great cause – I’ll be happy to help! No problem displaying the badge, I’ll add it to my blog today and I’ll be glad to write about your cause in my next post later this week and link back to your site.

Hi Kevin ~ I like this post. It will be my pleasure to spread the word. I have shared the video with several of my employees and friends and will be adding the badge to my various blogs.

It often amazes me how much water and other resources that some of us waste. And it saddens me that so many go without or are subjected to water that carries such onerous anomalies in it.
