This is a guest post from Michael Perkins from the blog Untitled. Michael is an ordinary guy looking to show God’s brilliance through ordinary-everyday life.
We go to the pool often during the summer.
Probably my favorite thing to do there is to sit and watch the kids jump in. It never fails, there is always a three or four-year-old kid who takes a running start and jumps into the pool without any hesitation.
But when I get in the pool it’s a totally different story.
I go in via the steps.
Testing the waters as I slowly make my way into the pool.
Hebrews 11:8 says,
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”
Maybe, you are are at a pool in your life that God has led you to.
And you’re trying to decide whether or not to slowly test the waters or jump in like a kid.
Do yourself a favor and jump in.
What is God leading you to jump into?

More great stuff from Michael!
My wife and I really feel that we are being lead to jump into adoption. We are currently looking into things. Please pray for wisdom through this…
Adam that is so cool.
When it comes to pools, I’m a jumper…my wife is a creeper…one toe in until it gets acclimated, then the foot, etc…
When it comes to life, my approach has varied depending on the “deepness” of the task. Shame on me…
I’m going to go practice my jumping now.
Gotcha. That makes a lot of sense.
great stuff, michael. Right now…. jumping in with serving in a specific area at church.
Will be praying. Let me know how that goes man.
Not me, I love to jump in the pools (remember this is the guy who jumped into an empty pool when he was a teen).
On spiritual matters, I am too careful. I need to jump in and let God take care of filling the waters.
lol. awesome.
I like how you phrased letting Him fill the waters.
This adoption process as of late, glad we’ve jumped, and even more glad we have an awesome community who supports us.
You guys have been prayed for daily man.
Another great post, Michael!
For me, it’s jumping into this idea of raising missions support and traveling to Europe on a regular basis. I’ve been just testing the waters the past two months. Time to dive in.
Thanks Jason. I hope that works out.
I get into pools via a cannon-ball off of the diving board. In real life? Not so much. But my sponaneous wife continue to coax me into more and more. Which is a good thing.
I bet your Matt Cannon balls awes awesome
I have no idea what He’s wanting me to jump into…but this is a great post, dude.
dude, I think deep down you know. I believe in you.
Well, I’m not sure if it’s something God wants me to jump into or not. But, I am doing the whole testing the waters and slowly going down the stairs…
I’m still praying about Australia.
Thanks. Still trying to get some proof of my work in South Korea, and not having much luck. Might have to apply without that (which shouldn’t be a problem). Sent off for transcripits the other day and waiting for those…hoping to get everything needed and the application for the license soon…
Keep me posted.
Dude, you have no idea how appropriate this is for me right now. Thank you.
Cool. I’m waiting to hear from you man.
Great Post, i like the way this has been crafted..
BTW i would like to write one guest post here, how to contact you? what is your e-mail?
Thanks
Thank you.
Sometimes we forget how refreshing it is once we’re in the pool. JUMP!
Kinda depends how well I’m listening….and trusting Him. Great post Bro’
I totally understand that jay.
The funniest thing is that even as an adult I ALWAYS jump right in. EVEN when I know I should test the water first. I do that with relationships, job, life and most recently with God. Jumping in the pool for God has been worth it so far…..sometimes I just wish I did a little more research first.
Thanks Michael!
Robin, you story still gives me chills. You seriously are amazing.
Lord, give me the courage to bypass my inhibitions when you place an assignment in my path. Let me jump into the adventure with abandon and feel the wind in my face and the cool rush like being dunked into the waters.
Thanks Michael for the kick in my swimming trunks.
Thank you Scott for your ongoing encouragement. You truly are a great friend.
BTW i would like to write one guest post here, how to contact you? what is your e-mail?
Thanks
Hi Rahul!
I limit guest bloggers on this blog to people who are willing to speak on their faith in Jesus and what He is teaching them.
If that is you then send me an e-mail at kevinmartineau99999@gmail.com

Thank you Michael and Kevin!
God’s definiately leading me to jump right on into my writing, a scary thing for a quiet guy who’s mom called “the mouse” as a little kid!!
Chris I understand that. I think you’ll find that the more you jump into it, the more it help you. It has for me.
Great post! I feel that God is calling me to be more open and expressive with my faith. The first step is to begin a street ministry.
