Stuck is a state of mind, and it’s curable
A lot of times we think we are stuck. We think we can’t move forward. And as a result of feeling this way we give up. I know I have found myself in this position too many times in my life.
The reality is, there usually is an answer to our problem!
We just need to figure out what is getting in our way.
4 things that get in our way
(from Seth Godin’s post “Which of the four are getting in the way?“)
1. You don’t know what to do.
2. You don’t know how to do it.
3. You don’t have the authority or the resources to do it.
4. You’re afraid.
Once you figure out what’s getting in the way, it’s far easier to find the answer (or decide to work on a different problem).
Stuck is a state of mind, and it’s curable. Seth Godin
What are you feeling stuck in right now? Which of these four things are getting in your way?

Hey Kevin,
I think the hardest thing to really grasp here is when to tell yourself that you don’t know everything.
The problem with that is, it’s painful and we all know we would rather avoid pain at all costs.
Unfortunately, that which causes us pain is also what enables us to grow and learn.
Funny how that words.
Thanks for the posting.

I agree with you Dereck. Accepting that we don’t everything is indeed difficult but, as you said, it enables us to grow.

Hey Kevin,
Great point – I think sometimes we work our way into that feeling of being stuck by playing to whatever the obstacles (either real or perceived) there may be to moving forward as a sort of safety zone to keep from pushing into the scary stuff.

Hi Kevin,
for me it would be the first one: Not knowing what I want.
In the last two years I have been exploring that a lot more, since I have been happily living by myself.
I used to be a people pleaser most of my life and I am so glad to now have the space and time to find out who I am and what I want.
Thanks for the food for thought.
Great Picture.
Cheers

Hi Kevin:
I read the initial post by Seth Godin but wasn’t feeling well that day and couldn’t decide which of the four I was having an issue with.
I think it’s a combination of #1 & #2. I don’t know what I want and can’t seem to figure out how to know what I want.
I’m used to helping others find answers and right now don’t know what questions to ask myself.
Thanks for this post. It is encouraging to be reminded that stuck is curable.
God bless!

Hi Melinda:
I can relate very much to what you are saying here. With the help of a coach I am beginning to figure out 1 and 2.
Blessings,

A good coach can be a real God-send. I’m used to being the coach but may need to find someone to ask me the right questions.
Thanks for sharing this, Kevin. May God help you as your move forward on the path.
